Now, in fairness to bingo hall operators, they pay outreagous taxes of up to 32% compared to other forms of gambling pay 15%. That’s double! 

This is blow for many operators as first seen the negative impact on the smoking ban and now during this tough economic downturn, no change to their bingo operations tax system. 

Mr Hemming said ministers “had it in” for bingo and its mainly working-class members and claimed scrapping VAT would only cost around £10m.
